GoPro cameras record high frequency GPS and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) data
GoPro telemetry
GoPro cameras (HERO5 Black to HERO11 Black) record high frequency data from multiple sensors alongside the video. Most importantly:
- GPS (10-18 Hz): Latitude, longitude, altitude and computed speed (2D and 3D)
- Accelerometer (~200 Hz): X, Y and Z axes
- Gyroscope (~400 Hz): X, Y and Z axes
With the right software tools, these data streams can replace data collection systems orders of magnitude more expensive.
